N-Power: What Presidency Says About ‘Being Empowered’ (Video)

As the Nigerian Government keep on with the N-Power scheme, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Job Creation and Youth Employment, Afolabi Imoukhuede has told beneficiaries that “when you are empowered, you must also empower others”.

Imoukhuede made this call when he visited N-Power Tech Southern campus recently in Edo state.

Speaking to beneficiaries, the ‘son-of-the-soil’ stated: “If you are here, it’s a privilege. And that’s why I said “congratulations”.

“So, it is important therefore to know the responsibility you have. That responsibility is that you must be empowered, and when you are empowered, you must obviously also empower others.”

N-Power October Stipend: Beneficiaries Send ‘Strong’ Message To Buhari, Others

Meanwhile, beneficiaries have called on President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and some top government officials tasked with social development to see to the payment of their October stipend.

The likes of Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Imoukhuede, Ismaeel Ahmed, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Social Investment Programmes and Mohammed Brimah, the Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation are all not explaining anything as to why delay of beneficiaries’ stipend is recurring.

This online news medium noticed that federal workers usually receive their salaries between 25th and 30th of each month. But N-Power beneficiaries – classified as Federal Government workers too – do not have a consistent payday.

Every month, the Nigerian government spends about N15 billion as stipends on over 500,000 volunteers of  the N-Power scheme, a component of the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP).

These payees earn a monthly stipend of N30, 000 (approximately 83 USD).
