Driver Robbed Of Food Items In Lagos As Lockdown Hunger Bites Hard
A driver who transports food items like yams, Tomatots, plantain, watermelon has been reportedly robbed in Ajao area in Lagos.
The driver was said to be taking the food items to the market when some unknown persons attacked the driver in Ajao Estate area on the Lagos Airport road in Lagos and made away with some of the foot stuff he had in his cab.
Recall that Daily Times had reported that the Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), foiled a robbery attempt in the early hours of Easter Sunday, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, arresting two suspects.
This development comes even as the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, had met with tactical commanders and heads of various units at the command, charging them to deal with suspected robbers who have taken to robbing residents in various parts of the state during the lockdown.
According to Elkana Bala, the command’s spokesperson who confirmed arrest of the suspects identified as Toheeb Sanisi, 21, and Adewale Adeshina, 24, one locally made revolver pistol and one cutlass were recovered from the suspects.
The spokesperson also noted that the command had also arrested 92 suspected cultists in different parts of the state.
He said: “ Lagos State Police command, on April 12, at 12:25 a.m., acting on credible information, operatives from Ikorodu Police Station supported by SARS operatives deployed by the Commissioner of Police arrested one Toheeb Sanusi and Adewale Adeshina, around Benson area Ikorodu.
“ One locally made revolver pistol and one cutlass were recovered from them. The suspects confessed that they were in the area to rob unsuspecting members of the public. Investigation is ongoing, the suspects will soon be charged to Court.
“ The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc has given Commanders of tactical units in Lagos State a clear instruction do deal decisively with armed hoodlums daring the collective will of the to rob in any part of the State during the lockdown. ”
